A relatively new idea in the UK,  wood pellets have long been used in Scandinavia and Europe as an alternative fuel for heating and hot water in domestic properties.  They are manufactured from sawdust which is compressed into pellets of 6mm -10mm diameter which are bound together using the naturally occurring lignin in the wood itself as an adhesive.  As such, they are a completely natural product which also boast being carbon neutral as, when the tree grows to produce the wood used in manufacturing the pellets, it absorbs the same amount of carbon dioxide as it emits during burning - hence being carbon neutral.  The added major benefit of being cheaper per KW/h than oil or coal makes wood pellets a real alternative to traditional forms of fuelling your heating and hot water system.

At Pippy Oak Pellets, all our wood pellets are manufactured from virgin timber that is locally grown for the purpose. We can advise you on boiler requirements and installation as well as access to grants available for installing bio-mass heating systems.  Payback time for a new installation can be as little as 3 years depending upon your individual requirements - please call us for details.
